Camera-based monitoring for rock fishing incidents
ResQVision flags unexpected water entry from monitored rock platforms. See the SAIL operating example and assess your camera, event and response pathway.
Discuss an evaluation
A person can move from a rock platform into rough water in seconds. ResQVision analyses the monitored view to flag unexpected water entry and bring the footage to an operator.
The task connects a specific event to a specific receiving team. It complements the site’s prevention measures and established rescue arrangements.

The SAIL operating context
Rock fishing is the initial event focus in Surf Life Saving NSW’s publicly documented SAIL programme. ResQVision’s work combines AI analysis, alerting integration, on-premises setup and testing with the operating team.
Read the SAIL case for the contribution, sites and published incidents.
What is a wash-off event?
For the assessment, define a person moving unexpectedly from the monitored platform into the adjacent water. The label must distinguish that event from ordinary activity, spray, waves and people moving safely around the scene.
The output is an event for review with the available camera evidence. The operator checks what happened and whether a response is required.
Camera placement matters
The view needs to show the platform, its edge and the nearby water with enough detail to follow a person. Swell, reflections and the rock shape can obscure the transition.
Assess the view in ordinary and difficult conditions. A camera that misses the entry area may need repositioning or another viewpoint.
From alert to response
The receiving team needs the event view, an understandable location and an agreed way to verify the situation. It then uses its established communications and response arrangements.
Lifejackets, signage, public education and capable responders remain part of the safety setting. Detection and rescue are linked stages with different responsibilities.
Plan a site-specific evaluation
Start with the rock platform, the camera view and the event your team needs to notice. Identify who reviews alerts and which response resources are available.
We can assess the input and propose the next step before a larger pilot is agreed. Discuss a rock-platform evaluation.
